GET TO KNOW: @slim9ine5ive (pronounced "Slim Nine Five") reminds me a lot of UNDRGRND co-owner, @pofsky3. An industry-head, someone tapped in who I'm confident that no matter what, will make a solid living in the music game one way or another. Just dogs out here.

Slim (real name Matthew Torrez) was born in Harbor City, California, but grew up in the Gardena & San Pedro areas. The Pisces has been making music for 10+ years, most recently dropping a flurry of singles during the back half of 2022. According to the man himself, fans can expect a new project releasing in early 2024.

Slim is also technically trained in music crafting—he's spent considerable time working at Hawthorne's famous @redroomstudios1, the same studio where UNDRGRND Magazine recorded its first album back in 2020. Further, Slim credits @thetwo.fifteens & @cruisemixedit as two of his favorite producers to use himself.

Another testament to his networking abilities, Slim has worked with "Compton's Hidden Gem", @1chrisobannon. The two collabed for Slim's 2021 hit single "Cash Out"—the corresponding music video currently holds over 13k views on #YouTube. Go peep, it's lit. Away from the mic, Slim works a 9-to-5 in Sales. He enjoys playing baseball and hitting In-N-Out, and tells us his favorite movie is "Blue Streak" (1999).
