Ruggo talks growing up in The Valley, running Swift Records with his dad, Airplane James on “LINUS”

UNDRGRND Magazine | November 24th, 2022

Ruggo is a 20-year-old artist putting on for Sylmar, California. A graduate of Granada Hills High School, Ruggo has been making music since early childhood, where he has memories of playing drums in his local Church band. Fast-forward to 2022, and Ruggo’s collaborated with some of Los Angeles’ hottest rising stars (*cough Airplane James cough*), runs a music label with his pops, and has more confidence than most his age.

He’s been recording music for a little over seven years, and even once opened up for D Smoke in Ventura. He credits Syphon and Crystal VVS as his go-to engineers, and tells UNDRGRND Magazine he enjoys playing soccer and watching “Avatar: The Last Airbender” in his free time.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Ruggo amidst our Issue 7 Media Day action, to talk his most recent project “LINUS — LP,” learning the music game alongside his dad, and his goal to drop more visuals in 2023.
