TAP IN WITH: Dru Lira (Monrovia | ISSUE 10)

UNDRGRND Magazine | March 21st, 2024

Heavily inspired by the sounds and styles of Kanye West, The Neptunes, and Hit-Boy, Dru Lira is one of the youngest new talents out of the Monrovia / San Gabriel Valley region. Born Andrew Lira, the Libra has been making music since early high school, most recently dropping “Like That,” a 2023 single produced by Danny Mejia and Dru himself.

In today’s rap world, the artist needs to be personable and ultimately a natural networker. Dru nails this aspect at its finest—organizing his own events, printing flyers, engaging fans by interviewing them for his socials—whatever it takes, Dru puts in above-average effort to get his name and brand out there. He tells UNDRGRND Magazine about his first ever show he threw in 2019, where 300 people pulled up to Dru’s backyard off the strength of his independent self-promotion.

Outside of music, Dru Lira doubles as a fashion stylist/clothing designer, and helps facilitate inventory at a warehouse in LA County. He enjoys checking out classic record stores and digging around flea markets, and tells UNDRGRND Magazine his favorite movie of all time is "Beverly Hills Cop."
