FROM STOCKTON TO LA

Connecting the coast with Stockton's KeepItPeezy and Los Angeles' Fenix Flexin

At UNDRGRND Magazine, it's important for us to bring notice to artists who put forth the effort to collaborate with other talent, both inside and outside of their home cities. After all, one of the best ways for artists to reach fans in new audiences is through hopping on tracks with musicians from all over the world.

For Issue 11, we point the spotlight to KeepItPeezy & Fenix Flexin, two Californian rappers who proudly make music with artists from all over the coast.

While technically born in San Diego, KeepItPeezy spent most of his upbringing in the Stockton area, roughly an hour-and-a-half drive east from San Francisco. Despite his Cali roots, Peezy tells us that since high school he's had an ear for rap from other markets.

The two have since collaborated multiple times, officially releasing “1 AM 64TH Floor,” a single off of Peezy’s most recent album, the 14-track “Project Peezy.” According to Peezy, he and Fenix have a “collab EP and some music videos” on the near horizon.

We find Fenix Flexin at an exciting time in the LA icon’s career. Earlier this year, Fenix and fellow Shoreline Mafia frontrunner, OhGeesy, announced the official return of the rap group with their first new tracks since 2020 — “HEAT STICK” (May) and “Work” (June).

On top of this momentous revival, Fenix has been active as a solo artist in recent months. His 2024 album, BACK FLEXIN, hit streaming platforms earlier this summer. The project is stacked with a wide range of features, from NorCal’s DB.Boutabag and EBK Young Joc, to Freeze Corleone out of France.

Both KeepItPeezy and Fenix Flexin are current West Coast artists who will likely have longevity in the hip-hop world. Not only are they feeding their fans consistent music, but both are clearly hustling to branch out of their section and engage with other creators.

And as Peezy works to build up his resume to the stature of Fenix’s, he certainly has the confidence needed to match his work ethic.

"I've been down and I don't want to be there again,” Peezy says. I was a knucklehead in school, and I didn't go to college. But I guarantee I can run a multi-million dollar company as well as anyone who did."
