BOBBYBEENFRESH

UNDRGRND Issue #2 “The 805: Part 2”

Robert Martinez (“BOBBYBEENFRESH”) has been recording and releasing music since the end of his high school days. The former hotel janitor was born in Fresno, Calif., raised in Grover Beach, and currently lives in Santa Maria. His flows on the mic show clear influence from old school gangsta rap, while still teasing a newer, contemporary sound throughout his extensive catalog.

The 25-year-old is consistent and project-driven, making it a goal to drop one full-length album (with features) every single year. Most recently, BOBBYBEENFRESH dropped his Fresh ‘Til Death on Halloween 2020, an 805-heavy project featuring Pofsky, Niko Cochi$e, Trey Anthony, and other members of the local underground rap scene.

His dream feature on a track would be “Erykah Badu or Jay-Z” and he is an avid Las Vegas Raiders fan. He notes opening for Luckyiam from Living Legends as one of his most memorable music experiences, and gives credit to Fashawn, Big L, Dom Kennedy, and Curren$y for being impactful musical influences in his life.

Outside of music, BOBBYBEENFRESH stood out to UNDRGRND for his humbleness and desire to bring his community to the top with him. He is a rapper who understands the benefit and importance of being a networking guru (the amount of up-and-coming artists that we have met through him is record breaking). Bottom line, he reps the central coast harder than everyone, and it clearly supports him back.

“There are so many rappers out [in Santa Maria]. Just like you guys have a scene out [in Ventura County], there’s one where I’m from too. That’s why I wanted to be a part of this, so we could bridge that gap.”
