B-Work

UNDRGRND Issue #2 “The 805: Part 2”

Brandon Workinger (“B-Work”) is a 25-year-old singer representing Newbury Park, although he has spent considerable time living in Aurora, Colo. B-Work finds his musical sound somewhere between hip-hop, punk rock, and emo rap.

The “New Life” artist boasts more professional music experience than most others out of “The 805”—he studied at Recording Radio FIlm Collection in Colorado, and signed with Big Top Entertainment at 18 years old, a deal that gave him the chance to tour and open for B.O.B. and Jhené Aiko. B-Work promises more new music in 2021, getting set to release his upcoming EP, Darkest Before Dawn, soon after the new year.

B-Work told UNDRGRND that Journey, Lil Peep, and Metallica have had the biggest influences on his sound, and points to fellow Newbury Park native Deo Cane’s, Part Time Artist album as his favorite local project of 2020. He has recorded music with Cane, as well as hopped on tracks with Kid Chxp, Pofsky, and GMBEATZ in recent memory.

In his personal life, B-Work likes to play pick up basketball and football, and shouts out Eggs-N-Things and Latino Market & Grill as his go-to food spots in “The 805.”

“[I write] honestly from the heart, no matter how hard it hurts. Sometimes the pen can be...mightier than the sword, and it becomes heavier and heavier to write down each word, but that's your truth. And I encourage every artist to write from their heart and write from what they're really going through.”
