Chris The Thr!llest

UNDRGRND Issue #2 “The 805: Part 2”

Born in Inglewood, Calif. but raised in Moorpark, Chris Stanton (“Chris The Thr!llest”) brings a high-octane presence and refreshing energy to the UNDRGRND world. We first met Chris The Thr!llest at the UNDRGRND concert auditions we held in February 2020, where he performed his SoundCloud hit “EGO” alongside roommate and good friend, Step Back J.

At 30 years young, Chris The Thr!llest is the oldest artist to be featured in UNDRGRND’s pages, and has been dropping music since most other 805 young bloods were in middle school. The Moorpark High School alum ended 2020 strong with the mid-December release of his EP, No Good, All Great, titled in homage to his personal mentality to conquer any task he takes on.

Chris currently resides in Carpinteria, using the nearby downtown Santa Barbara nightlife as a catalyst for his music. With the catch phrase and brand name “Shenanigans,” Chris and Step Back J have used their experiences getting into trouble in the Santa Barbara area as inspiration for their multiple collab albums.

Chris The Thr!llest is a well-educated individual, graduating from Pepperdine University with a master’s degree in clinical psychology. As he builds his rap career, he works with disabled children as an Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapist, a job he notes as taxing but even more rewarding. Outside of recording music, Chris enjoys playing basketball, cartoon drawing, and watching the anime show, Yu Yu Hakusho.

“What a lot of artists don't realize is rapping is a skill, and it is one that you get better at with time.”
