Trey Anthony

UNDRGRND Issue 3 “Scenes Collide”

If you’re making a list of the best live performers in the UNDRGRND world right now, Trey Anthony’s got to be at the top of that list. The 26-year-old rapper out of Santa Maria, Calif. has been lighting up stages up and down the coast ever since the pandemic began to subside: he was an undeniable standout at the UNDRGRND Issue 3 release event in May, then the popular “805 Live” Block Party in June, and was a main act throughout July’s BOBBYBEENFRESH & Pofsky “Bridge The Gap” Tour.

he Pioneer Valley High School alum stands out for his ability to produce, mix, and master his own music, due to his initial role in the Central Coast music scene as a prolific beat maker. He dropped his debut full-length project, Nothing Personal, in March 2018, featuring fellow up-and-comers Snow and King Domingo.

After meeting fellow UNDRGRND legend BOBBYBEENFRESH (Issue 2) during a music class at Allan Hancock College, the two began making music together. They’ve released a variety of iconic collab songs together, such as “On My Own” (2020) and “Let’s Go” (2021), and have made regular appearances as guest features on each others’ projects.

The father of two credits hip-hop legends Tech N9ne and Mac Dre as his biggest musical influences, and notes Connect The Coast’s $horty DuWop as his dream 805 feature. Anthony dropped his most recent project, the nine-track Mentally Noted, in May 2021 and plans for at least one more full-length album in 2021. There are also rumors that he and fellow Issue 3 artist, Woodland Hill’s Rimi, have songs in the vault that are soon to be released.

“Putting the coast on the map, that’s the ultimate goal. Just bridging the gaps. We just got overlooked. Like, no one knows who we are. But we have something to say and we want the world to hear that message.”
