Ty Fighter

UNDRGRND Issue #2 “The 805: Part 2”

Ty LaPierre (“Ty Fighter”) is a 25-year-old rapper born in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., but raised and still living in Oxnard. In just a couple years of recording and releasing music, Ty Fighter has put together an impressive music catalog, adding to it most recently with the release of his newest album, titled Mixtape, a seven-song project featuring up-and-coming artists Ricky West, David Mo, J. Tokes, TravtheReefer, and Mongrel from ‘91. He’s started 2021 off strong, dropping a variety of tracks such as “in my eyes” and “Stimulus Check” with Bluebebleu, and “7th Realm” with King Drew.

While he has a youthful physical demeanor, Ty Fighter stands out for his wisdom and quick thinking. The Westlake and Pacifica High School alumnus carries an unapologetic rap sound, matched with witty lyrical wordplay that is difficult to find within “The 805”’s boundaries. Ty Fighter told UNDRGRND that truth is something he is unwilling to sacrifice as he continues to add to his discography. The “You Can Smell It” rapper is someone who clearly knows how to make back the money he invests in his music career, even at the underground level. He sells official merchandise, promotes for shows, but says he still doesn’t charge for features...yet, at least.

As he builds his rap fanbase, Ty Fighter doubles as a plant operator at a local hospital, and is beginning to venture into producing and engineering for other artists at his own studio, coined “Top Flyte Studio,” located deep in the Oxnard industrial parks. He balances his music goals with an active family life. Ty Fighter has a wife, Alexis, and daughter, “Adri,” who both support his passion for hip-hop.

“Everyone exaggerates, everyone has their own side of the story. But to me, truth is something that’s important in music. Also, you don’t get the same therapeutic results of venting if you’re not being honest.”
